Is the EVO ICL FDA-approved?
Yes. The EVO ICL received approval from the FDA for a wide range of myopic (nearsightedness) correction needs, with and without astigmatism.
Is the EVO ICL visible to other people?
No. The EVO ICL is positioned behind the iris (the colored part of the eye), where it is invisible to both you and other people.
Are patients satisfied after the procedure?
Over one million EVO ICLs have been implanted in patients worldwide. Based upon clinical trials, more than 98% of patients would have the procedure again.
What are the potential risks and complications of EVO ICL surgery?
Although EVO ICL is FDA-approved with an exceptional safety record, any intraocular procedure carries minor risks. Potential complications include:
- Temporary Pressure Spikes: Brief increases in eye pressure, easily managed with post-operative drops.
- Halos or Glare: Mild visual rings around lights at night during early adjustment.
- Lens Repositioning: Rare instances where the lens requires minor sizing or position adjustment.
- Cataracts or Cell Changes: Extremely rare (<1%) due to the central port design, though annual eye exams remain recommended.
- General Surgical Risks: Infection, inflammation, or minor under/overcorrection.
