Go for a Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge

The reason why Brooklyn is the most populous borough in New York is simple: it’s one of the best tourist destinations.

Brooklyn offers breathtaking views and some of the most interesting tourist sites. One of the best landmarks to visit is the Brooklyn Bridge, which links the two boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. It’s been featured in many movies and TV shows, making it a major tourist attraction. Since its construction in 1883, this iconic structure has offered a scenic passage to millions of locals and tourists from around the world.

Getting to the bridge is easy. You can take the J or Z trains to Chambers Street Stop or the 4, 5, or 6 trains that stop at the City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge.

What It’s like to Cross the Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge consists of two lanes: one for pedestrians and another for bicycles. A leisure walk will take you approximately one hour to get to the other end. This includes enjoying your time while taking some cool pictures. Although using a bike will only take a quarter of an hour, you’ll miss a lot of the adventure.

The fun doesn’t end after crossing the bridge since there’s so much to do in Brooklyn. You can spend some quality time in Dumbo and other neighborhoods. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to dine, enjoy the breathtaking views from Brooklyn Bridge Park, or shop in one of Dumbo’s high-end boutiques.

Best Time to Visit

It’s free to access the bridge, so there’s no limitation with regards to the time you can cross it. However, if you’re looking for the most scenic views, visiting during sunset is more preferable. This gives you an opportunity to get spectacular views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Statue of Liberty. You can take some memorable pictures as you traverse this iconic structure. If you’re using ferry service to Manhattan, you’ll get a water-level view of Brooklyn Bridge.

What to Do While in Brooklyn

There’s a lot to do from sightseeing and enjoying some delicious pizza to shopping. You can take a walk around Dumbo’s original cobblestone streets or enjoy the Manhattan skyline views by the waterfront. For the more adventurous traveler, Pier 1 has many activities for you. It offers concessions, free boating, bicycle rentals, and a nice playground.

For fashion lovers, head straight to Nos for some affordable clothes for both men and women. Book lovers can visit the P.S. Bookshop to grab some used books or buy some new ones from the PowerHouse Arena. Make sure you don’t leave Dumbo before tasting some delicious pies at Grimaldi’s Pizza. For fine dining, there are a number of spots to visit such as the Sperfine on Jay Street.

If you’re planning to visit here & other New York City landmarks, make sure the Brooklyn Bridge is at the top of your list. It’s one of the best ways to experience the city’s history and enjoy some amazing views.
