Spring is here, and that means for many so are seasonal allergies! Do you often deal with itchy, red, swollen or watery eye symptoms come spring time? Does it ever interfere with your ability to work, read, and drive or simply to enjoy life? Fortunately, Dr. Kelly and Kelly Vision Center can help alleviate your symptoms and show you how to treat spring allergies!

ALLERGEN REMOVAL: The most effective way to reduce the symptoms of eye allergies is to remove the allergens from your environment. This is not always possible, however, and even when it is possible it cannot always be done immediately. Remove clothes you’ve worn outside and shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair soon as possible.

ANTIHISTAMINES: Many people use antihistamines during the time of year when the allergens are most prevalent. Eye drops can also help soothe the redness and swelling of the eyes.

KEEP INSIDE AIR CLEAN: Just because you are indoors does not mean you are free of allergies! Use the air conditioning in your house and car so the air is moving. Make sure to use high-efficiency filters for your house’s air conditioning and follow regular maintenance schedules. Keeping the indoor air dry with a dehumidifier can help as well.
