Lasik Patient Testimonial
Needing (And Hating) Glasses…
I’m an executive assistant in the financial industry, working in midtown. I’ve had vision problems since I was five years old. That’s when I was supposed to start wearing glasses but I, for as long as I can remember, refused to. I remember in grade school, if I was ever seated in the back, I couldn’t really see the blackboard very well. I knew I had bad vision, but, for some reason, I have no idea why, I just refused to wear them. I always lied to my parents about it.
The Trouble With Contacts…
I started wearing contacts, soft contacts, when I was about thirteen years old until I had the surgery, which was about six or seven months ago. Contacts helped me see, but they were still very uncomfortable. I would walk into a shopping mall, and, maybe from the perfume or whatever, my eyes would burn. If I drove with the windows open, the contacts would get dry and feel like they were falling out of my eyes. It was very uncomfortable. And I think possibly the contacts gave me migraines at times, too.
Sold On The Surgery Solution
I guess I heard about the laser surgery option through an advertisement or through a news story. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but I remember when I did hear about I was very excited and it struck my attention right away. I just needed the means to do it. So once I had the money and it was the right time, that’s when I decided, hey, I’m going to start looking into this.
Seeking The Right Doctor
I went on the Internet and looked at several different sources. I saw Dr. Kelly’s site. I read about it. I felt comfortable with it. It was mostly Dr. Kelly’s experience that appealed to me about his website and the way it focused on that fact that he was dedicated to corrective eye surgery and that he had performed so many surgeries. So I gave him a call. Initially, I was going to shop around for different doctors and see which I felt most comfortable with. But then I set up an appointment for a consultation right away, probably within the same week or two weeks, met with Dr. Kelly and that was it. Like I said, initially I was going to shop around, but when I went to see Dr. Kelly, he was very accommodating. Dr. Kelly explained everything to me very thoroughly, including all the terms I was unfamiliar with, and he did the eye test himself. I felt very comfortable.
The Very Next Day…
After the consultation I decided I was going to go with him, and, believe it or not, I got the corrective eye surgery the very next day. They told me their next appointment was in a month so I asked if they had anything sooner. They said, well, you know we might have a cancellation for tomorrow. They confirmed it, and I went the very next day and had it done. I had a little bit of concern as far as, you know, people with horror stories. Because it’s your eyes, some people are very fearful. It’s such a vital part of your life. But I felt very comfortable. I didn’t think twice about it. I just went and did it. I’m actually very indecisive usually. I think about pros and cons back and forth. But I felt very comfortable.
Procedure Time…
I was slightly nervous the night before but more excited than anything, because, seriously, not being able to see properly was such a problem, especially driving at night, that I was excited to see comfortably without contacts, glasses, or anything. I went to the office, and, once again, the staff was very accommodating. They made me feel very comfortable. I actually had somebody there with me. And I was slightly nervous but I went in for the surgery and it wasn’t that uncomfortable at all. I had been anticipating getting the surgery done and wondering what it would feel like but while I was getting it done, there was only a little discomfort. No big deal. And it was very simple, very easy.
Brand New Day…
The next morning, as soon as I woke up, it was incredible. It was very exciting. After years and years of not being able to see and being uncomfortable, the next day I could see everything clearly. It was somewhat emotional, too. It was just… it was great. I recommended Dr. Kelly to my whole office.
